As every project and their participants are unique, no single template applies to all. Understanding your target participants' motivations will help develop project promotion.
It is important to spend time planning how you will promote your project and which platforms you will use. The level of promotion required depends on your approach, and the number of participants you require. For example, if you have an established network of existing volunteers, then promotion via emails, social media or newsletters may be all that is required. On the other hand, if you do not have an established network you may need to actively recruit participants.
Some ideas of how to engage with participants are discussed in the following section.
Recruit participants from:
- project partners
- schools and universities
- naturalist groups (e.g. bird watchers, invertebrate collectors)
- Landcare and Bushcare groups.
